When You pass through SpeanBridge from the Inverness-Shire rout , which by the way is a blink of the eye, You will again be driving or bus on a very wyndy road towards Fort William.
There are some side roads one to the left with a tiny rail bridge tunnel and adjacent to that another one leading to a caravan site ( residential ) on the right hand side of the road.
If You keep on driving you will be on a road that will lead you all the way to Torlundy and then back on the main road to Fort William. Torlundy is a pretty little place and the road leading to it is lovely...you might just come across some dear leaping over in front of you so it is very wise and kind , just take it easy while you drive. Also you have to let others pass you when ever you can as most of them live there, this place I'm telling you about is a secret place, but I'm not sure it will be for very much longer so to keep the residents happy I think picking up your litter and pooper scooping after your wee dog would be a great way of keeping the place clean for the residents sake and for the sheep and cows that sometimes block the road ..... but hey! your in the country so these things are normal. Personally I would love it to stay that way.
Keep reading my blog and you can find out about climbing and other activities. Please post me any questions you want to know about this place and I will tell you the truth and not say stuff because I will make money saying it I promise.
I have to tell you that the main road that leads from SpeanBridge to Fort William can be treacherous . But only because people get stuck in a long line of traffic and are determined to overtake even when you know it's blooming dangerous to do so, and because of that we have over the years I have lived here have had a number of deaths so if I were you I would be aware of that because it only takes one stupid move. If I see that the cars are getting frustrated and are very close to each other ( you know what I mean ) I just go to the nearest parking bay and relax for a while until it looks safe to go. Your on holiday chill ax! your health is so much more important. Sorry I had to mention this we hear about it too often in my village and it's sad when an Innocent person loses their life.
When you get to the end of the beautiful secret place Torlundy, you turn right to go to Fort William. There is a Vauxhall garage on the left hand side of the road and on the right a field with a black and white horse and next to that a pub that's for sale though I don't know how much for I can tell by looking at it that it's a lot....it's very nice looking place, I would buy it if I had that kind of money! as you pass the pub if you look to your left again you will see the mountains and there are days when they look spectacular! the colours are amazing and for me personally that's what Scotland country side is all about.
If you keep on driving you will end up passing your first petrol station on your right, just keep going straight ahead to Fort William....its not big but a good resting and starting point to the rest of the country and mountain walking or climbing.
