Drugs/life

When you hit teenage hood it's a whole new ball game. Body verses Emotions, Culture, Belief System, No Belief System, Confusion! Depression.........Drugs come into the equation?

Do drugs have to come into your equation?  Do you have to have a Belief System like Christianity or other.  Why are people not believing in themselves?  And why is society dropping these people like stones and not offering a practical solution to this major problem and it is major! after all society has been pushing and pulling everyone around since we were born!

So what is going on?  maybe it's a conspiracy ! maybe it's all about the money ! maybe it's the lack of religion ! .......mm what could it be?

What do I think?

I think it's a choice you make every time you wake up in the morning. It's to do with lacking in what ever you personally perceive  is true for you. It has nothing to do with out there. It's to do with in here and in here can always change to make your life a better place to be in. ( Just my point of view)

There are legal drugs and illegal ones there are places to go where you can legally drink yourself to oblivion or people who will happily watch you destroy yourself so you can buy more. Keeping you just alive would be in their best interest?  What do you think?

Drugs/Life

I don't think most people think that drugs ( legal or illegal ) are something to get upset about. Unless You are a Christian or another faith.

And that goes for alcohol too.  Why does it have such a hold on us? Why do we choose to do it?

It is so very difficult to live a good and wholesome life these days, when there is so much going on. First there is being born into you don't know what! then Your getting pushed around by giants who have all the power and you better do as they say because Your survival depends on it!

Next thing You know, You've been shoved into a room full of crying faces You don't know and don't care because Your Mum/Dad isn't there. The strange smiling lady in the room pushes you to sit or listen or play and tells You not to cry but their is no hug! or a kiss on your cheek    What is going on? you don't know because you are just wanting to stay away from danger and survive but Mum/Dad are not there.

Then when You get used to being in that room every day and realize that it's o k  (even if young Sean keeps hitting You every time He lays eyes on You)  when they make You eat food otherwise there will be frowns; You at least think that it will be over soon and then can go home back to the toys you know and Love.

At first everything you do is cute and funny, you get sweets and presents for Birthdays and Christmas; Fire works are amazing and watching TV before you have supper and then a warm bed with Teddy and Dolly by your side; you don't feel frightened because Mum said that the moving shadows on the wall are just the cars driving by with their headlights on. And you do as your told because you know they want you to survive , you believe them because you Love them and know they mean you no harm unless you do a bad thing which you will try to remember not to do.....if you can remember that is....there is so much to learn! sometimes it's not easy to go to sleep right away!

The years go by so fast but you are learning what they want from you. At times you make mistakes and get a warning or a wallop but on the whole, you are alive and are getting food on your plate at the right time every day, no starving, no beatings, no abuse, a warm bed at night and you know that others are worse of than you are, you are getting snippets of stories about the second world war and the evil Nazis, How thousands and thousands of solders were killed or tortured by them; then you realize that your Dad is a solder and you belong to an army family.

BEN NEVIS - SCOTLAND

It has been snowing here a lot lately and the mountains here in the highlands are looking awesome and inviting. On a clear day from my window I can see the Nevis Range Ski slope, it's beautiful . I know that people from all over the world pay a fortune to come to Fort-William to see our beautiful snowy mountains and have a go at skiing sometimes for the very first time or snowboarding and even mountain climbing. Many people come here for the fresh air, beautiful scenery and the friendliness of the Scottish country people...of course I would say that, I have lived here for nearly twenty years, but it's true, I love it being near Ben Nevis and all that goes with it.

Drochaid Aonachain is Scottish Gaelic for SpeanBridge. All the signs in this part of the world have Scotish Gaelic as well as the English names. But most people you will come across are English speaking with a Scots accent and if you find it sometimes hard to understand it's ok. just take it easy listen carefully and soon you will be going back home with a wee Scottish twist to your own accent Lol :)

NEVIS RANGE - AONACH MOR

Scotland has year-round skiing thanks to a combination of five ski areas, an indoor snow centre, and a dozen artificial surfaced dry land slopes. The five conventional ski areas are all in the north of the country in the Grampian mountains.

I want to tell you a bit about Nevis Range, also known as Aonach Mor. It's located next to Britain's highest mountain, Ben Nevis. It's about ten minutes from Fort William and there's a bus service that will take you all the way up to the chair lift, you can catch the bus from 'the' bus station ( small one) that's in the middle of the Fort William train station and Morrison's, you can't really miss it.... well you could, if you've got a taste for scotch mist, but hopefully you'll be wanting to enjoy other things before you chillax.

SOME SKI INFO!
Nevis Range's boarding terrain is classified as 50 percent Freeride, 20 percent Freestyle, and 30 percent Carving so there is something for riders of all abilities. The Snowgoose Chair and T-bar gives access to Easyrider, Fairways and Far West - wide open runs - perfect for carving it up or just cruising. The Back Corries offers more extreme terrain - cornice and cliff drops, wind lips, natural 1/4 pipes and steeper more challenging runs - enough to satisfy any freerider.

The most important thing I think you should know, is that you can sit in a nice wee cafe called the Pinemartin which is at the starting point of your journey to the gondolas and getting ski equipment at the ready. The Pinmartin has wood stove, sofas and a scandi feel to the place it's warm and cosy. The food is ok .. nothing out of the ordinary but when you want to rest and your freezing 'cos you've been walking in the near by forest for miles on end (it's huge) you will enjoy resting there I'm sure. I've been there a number of times and the people who served me were very pleasant.

FORTWILLIAM SCOTLAND

When You pass through SpeanBridge from the Inverness-Shire rout , which by the way is a blink of the eye, You will again be driving or bus on a very wyndy road towards Fort William.
There are some side roads one to the left with a tiny rail bridge tunnel and adjacent to that another one leading to a caravan site ( residential ) on the right hand side of the road.

If You keep on driving you will be on a road that will lead you all the way to Torlundy and then back on the main road to Fort William. Torlundy is a pretty little place and the road leading to it is lovely...you might just come across some dear leaping over in front of you so it is very wise and kind , just take it easy while you drive. Also you have to let others pass you when ever you can as most of them live there, this place I'm telling you about is a secret place, but I'm not sure it will be for very much longer so to keep the residents happy I think picking up your litter and pooper scooping after your wee dog would be a great way of keeping the place clean for the residents sake and for the sheep and cows that sometimes block the road ..... but hey! your in the country so these things are normal. Personally I would love it to stay that way.

Keep reading my blog and you can find out about climbing and other activities. Please post me any questions you want to know about this place and I will tell you the truth and not say stuff because I will make money saying it I promise.

I have to tell you that the main road that leads from SpeanBridge to Fort William can be treacherous . But only because people get stuck in a long line of traffic and are determined to overtake even when you know it's blooming dangerous to do so, and because of that we have over the years I have lived here have had a number of deaths so if I were you I would be aware of that because it only takes one stupid move. If I see that the cars are getting frustrated and are very close to each other ( you know what I mean ) I just go to the nearest parking bay and relax for a while until it looks safe to go. Your on holiday chill ax! your health is so much more important. Sorry I had to mention this we hear about it too often in my village and it's sad when an Innocent person loses their life.

When you get to the end of the beautiful secret place Torlundy, you turn right to go to Fort William. There is a Vauxhall garage on the left hand side of the road and on the right a field with a black and white horse and next to that a pub that's for sale though I don't know how much for I can tell by looking at it that it's a lot....it's very nice looking place, I would buy it if I had that kind of money! as you pass the pub if you look to your left again you will see the mountains and there are days when they look spectacular! the colours are amazing and for me personally that's what Scotland country side is all about.

If you keep on driving you will end up passing your first petrol station on your right, just keep going straight ahead to Fort William....its not big but a good resting and starting point to the rest of the country and mountain walking or climbing.

FORTWILLIAM

When I go to Fort William, I like to have a relax in Cobbs at Nevisport. Nevisport is down the stairs and cafe up. I does get busy at times but it's warm and gives you a bit of time to focus on what next to do and it's also a hot spot, they used to have computers there but I'm not so sure now, still you can have your soup ( great when your cold and starving ) and e-mail on your own laptop. I usually give a little donation to them. I just think that's a good thing to do ( just a few pence ).

The toilets are OK. normally but like most places and this is no exception that if it's really busy and there are loads of tourists, the toilets will get swamped out a bit....but hey that's because Fort William is still quite old fashioned in many ways... it wasn't long ago I remember that we had to put some tourists up in the local jail because there wasn't enough B&B's for every one. I thought that was quite nice of our police to do that. Anywhere else would have left them out on the pavement to freeze lol.

We are getting more B&B's now and they even have TVs these days. But you know people come here to get away from the cities and the pollution...and crime is minimal here, its very safe to walk around and I like that...that's why I've lived here for so long , I feel safe here.

The mountains are beautiful and when the light changes it can be stunning!

FORTWILLIAM

FortWilliam. What can I say. I go into FortWilliam a lot but not as a tourist. There are shops there ie. Morrisons, McKays, WHSmiths, Boots and a smaller pharmesy and umpteen charity shops up and down the high street.

There are many places to eat but not like a city except we do hav MacDonalds ( ovcourse ) . Next to that is our College, just a wee one. Near by a few yards away is the train station and a few steps and under a walk tunnel ( safe ) is FortWilliam high street. The Bank of Scotland is there and also The Royal Bank of Scotland, also some building societies and a post office which is in WHSmiths. There a loads of mountain and walking clothe shops to buy everything you need to servive our weather and a wee Rod and Gun shop.

There's a nice park that faces the town with benches to sit on and is nice especially in the summer. The sooner we get some of that the better. There are many B&Bs around and Hotells but it does get busy so if you do decide to come visit, make shure you get somewhere to stay as soon as possible. We also have a Youth Hostel near to FortWilliam that is clean and all the information you need to know about the area will be there for you to plan with.
